There is a smell of summer in your hair,
And summer is your time - I mind me well
Of when I turned around and you were there,
And in that sight my heart cracked like a bell.
The light fell from your hair in golden tears;
Amid the green, a milk-white hind you stood.
A moment were you there - it seemed like years -
And I was caught, a hunter in your wood.
With you I live within this charmèd ring,
And find my heaven in your arms each day;
Through all this summer life your praise I'll sing,
As long as winter from our love you stay.
While you would have me, by your side I'll lie;
Would you destroy me, I would gladly die.
