Another summer, and another night -
I have come again, as I have known I would,
And followed where your still persuading light
Reshapes 'no' into 'maybe', 'should not' to 'should'.
So many changes passed, yet still you seem as
Then you seemed, in such a night as this
That once translated strangers into dreamers
To taste, through patient trials, a sweeter kiss.
Before me and behind, among dark trees run
Those darker shades that follow where you call;
If you will have many, I will be one,
And being one, then let me be them all.
I cannot change, but I will still be true;
What you would have me else, I'll be for you.
